Guest Conducting

James Mark has an extensive repertoire of works for orchestra and band, and has a wealth of experience preparing ensembles using limited rehearsal time.

He is presently Conductor and Music Director of the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2000.  He was the Conductor of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra from 1994-2010, and appeared with them in Carnegie Hall, NYC, Auditorio Paganini in Parma, Italy, and in the Forbidden City Concert Hall as well as the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.  He has guest conducted  Symphony New Brunswick, the Fredericton (NB) Chamber Orchestra and the Toronto Wind Orchestra.

Clinics

  • Working with school or community bands and orchestras using the music they are currently preparing for performance
  • Working with Clarinet or Saxophone sections or classes
  • Working with Conducting students

Dr. Mark has been the clinician for the Prince Edward Island Intermediate Honors Band (2005) and the New Brunswick Honour Band.  In 2010-2011 he was the Conductor of the Nova Scotia Junior Wind Ensemble.  He  was also active as a clinician in New Mexico.
